This blog is not in anyways related to the Property Management Company of YCC 244 (PMC) , nor to the Board of Directors (BOD).Both PMC and BOD are welcome to check the blog frequently (maybe on daily basis), to take note of the issues, to post replies or to make announcements for the residents.

What if my bedroom baseboard heater needs to be replaced?

Would the corporation do it free of charge, or I have to do it on my own?
Do I have to buy a heater myself and ask at the office to have it installed, or I have to look myself for a technician to install it?
When is the best time to do the replacement: now in the summer, when there is no power on the heaters, or when the electricity is turned back on late in the fall?
If I need to buy one myself, how do I know what to buy and from where. Any idea about how much would a new heater cost?

  1. If your heater is broken the Corp. will replace it for you at no cost. the heaters are the Corp. responsibility. If you want to replace your heater for any other reason you must inform the office why and they will determine if they will service it at a later date. The heater must NOT exceed the wattage that is now installed should a larger one be installed and problems arise from this if you had the heater installed your self,YOU are responsible financially for any problems arising from this. Summer is the best time

    1. It's broken in the sense that it can't be properly adjusted: it's either on or off. And when it's "on" your brains are boiling and when it's "off" you're freezing. Not economical at all either.
      When the Corporation will replace it I will also want it moved over to a different wall (i.e. under the balcony door). The way it is now is blowing all the heat on my head at night and can't sleep. And like I said, if I turn it off I'm freezing. In all other bedrooms the heaters are installed under the balcony doors. I believe this is where the norm to be installed is (under the balcony door).
      The question is: will they also want to move it to the other wall (at a cost for me of course) or I have to bring my own contractor to do it.

  2. ossiby the thermostat...If you want it on a difeent wall you will pay extra....To put it under a patio door it is a totally different heater and it will cost you more.. The electrical code requires a different style of heater to be installed under these locations... all wiring must meet the code and must be inspected by the athourities moving it and not notifing the Corp. could cause you problems when ever you sell your unit as it will be put on your satus certificate that this was not approved and could result in not selling your unit because of this.
